President Trump Is Not Going To Leave in 2028. Democrats Need To Be Raising the Alarm On This.

Since Donald Trump has taken office, he has begun his assault on the Constitution. Some of his assaults are well-publicized like the decisions to detain Mahmoud Khalil while admitting in their statement that they aren’t charging him with a crime and that they are violating the Constitution. Some of the assaults are lesser known, like the fact that after a judge blocked Trump from using the 1798 Alien Enemies Act that would allow him to deport anyone he deemed a threat to the US, his administration has rounded up migrants and deported them, in direct violation of the court’s orders. His own acting Attorney General has threatened Georgetown University with legal action for the courses they teach. It is only going to get worse, and his administration is only going to get more inhumane during the duration of this term.

After the budget showdown late last week and Chuck Schumer & Senate Democrats folding like the pathetic cowards they are, it made me realize there is no one to stand in his, except the courts. Who he is currently openly defying.

But that led me to think, what if it wasn’t just this term? What happens if Trump tries to stay in power past January 2029?

Before we dive into the hypotheticals lets get a few truths out of the way.

First, Donald Trump lost a free and fair election in 2020, and because his ego is so small and he’s a pathetically weak man who couldn’t accept the fact that he lost, he tried to remain in power by violently overthrowing the government on January 6th. He conspired leading up to the events, then led a violent mob to the Capitol that attacked law enforcement, killing 1 officer and injuring others. He didn’t want to leave then, and I doubt he’ll want to leave in 2028.

Second, Donald Trump loves and worships dictators. He has praised dictators publicly such as Xi Jingping, Kim Jong Un, Viktor Orbán, and Vladimir Putin. He has said that he wants to be a “dictator for a day.” Everyone with common sense knows that people like Trump don’t want to be a dictator for a day. They want to be a dictator everyday until they leave this earth.

Third, Trump has installed loyalists and yes men (and woman) at the top of the DOJ & FBI. He named Kash Patel as the head of the FBI and Pam Bondi as the Attorney General. Patel is a notorious 2020 election denier and Pam Bondi has a history of making decisions that favor her donors & political career. Go and “Google Trump University in Florida & Pam Bondi”.

These facts are non-negotiable. They are 100% fact. Anyone who argues otherwise is lying to you, and lying to themselves. Now, let’s get to some of the other more recent events, combined with these facts that have me very alarmed, and should have Democratic representatives warning the country of the situation that is potentially coming.

Earlier this year, Donald Trump & his administration eliminated a government department aimed at fighting against foreign interference in our elections, despite ongoing concerns that adversaries are stoking political and social divisions by spreading propaganda and disinformation online.

Next, the Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth, has issued an order that the Department of Defense stop all offensive cyber attacks and initiatives against Russia, who was the main proponent of misinformation in the 2016, 2020, and 2024 elections.

Third, earlier this year, Republican Representative Andy Ogles (R-Tennessee) introduced a resolution to allow Donald Trump to run for a third term. Now it hasn’t been brought up for a vote, and I’m unsure if it actually would even pass because it required a 2/3 majority in both the House & Senate, and it requires 3/4 of the states (38 states) to ratify it. So it’s a long shot. But don’t tell me that Donald Trump won’t view this as support to not leave office. Keep in mind, that Vladimir Putin was term limited. But they did the old bait & switch and he’s been in power ever since, especially since he’s had the support of the oligarchy class.

Trump has the support of our oligarchs so that seems like a likely scenario. Politico even recently released an article on how he could remain as President post 2028. It goes into great detail where it highlights four ways he could remain in power, including repealing the 22nd amendment (highly unlikely), running as VP in 2028 (the bait & switch method), defying the Supreme Court (more on this!), or just staying in office (also likely).

The last reason that leaves me the most concerned about Trump remaining in power is his disdain for the rule of law, as is so common with authoritarians and dictators. We will see just how far Trump is willing to go in this manner real soon. This past week, The Supreme Court ruled 5-4 that USAID must pay out $2 Billion in payments to contractors for work that had already been done. This is not the ruling the Trump administration was hoping for.

But the biggest concern is what if they just go ahead and defy court orders? What if they challenge the court and basically say “stop us.”? What will happen? Ultimately, it would be up to Republicans since they hold the majority in both chambers. We know that Democrats would move, and ultimately vote for impeachment.

But would Republicans?

Probably not, especially considering Elon Musk has threatened any Republican who votes against Trump’s nominees and political agenda with the threats of a primary challenger. And since Republicans biggest concern is getting re-elected and not representing their constituents, there is ZERO chance they would move to impeach Trump. And we’d be left with an authoritarian president, who defies court orders, and has zero pushback from within his own party.

That’s how it’s going to happen. It’s not going to be an announcement, a press release, or a social media post. It’s going to be slow, and through a series of events like the ones listed out above.

Currently, there is nothing Democrats can do except to alert the American public about this scenario. Along with this, you need to lay out how you differ as a party, what you’ll fight for (which better include taxing billionaires, raising minimum wage, universal healthcare, universal childcare, etc.).

If we don’t, we’ll have trouble winning elections on a national level for a long time.
