Providing for Our Veterans

Our veterans do the unthinkable. They go half way around the world, fight enemies that we’ve been told about, and put their lives on the line to defend our country. To provide us the freedoms and liberties that so many around the world don't have but aspire to one day. They are brave & courageous heroes.

But the moment they get back, our government is done with them. They don’t provide them adequate benefits or healthcare. The lack of respect they get while putting their lives on the line is unimaginable. The current administration is looking to cut veterans benefits in order to pay for tax cuts for millionaires & billionaires who don’t need it. Nor do they deserve the tax cut.

Our benefits deserve to be treated for the injuries they sustained overseas for our country, and they deserve to not have to pay a single cent for that care, for as long as they live. We need to also offer them additional employment services, mental health counseling, and whatever else they need to successfully transition to civilian life.

Currently, there is a bill that is waiting to be signed by the President that aims to improve veterans’ access to Residential Rehab Treatment Programs (RRTPs) and mandates improvements in their operations, coordination, and oversight. I have no clue why a bill would still not be signed after passing both the House & Senate. But any bill that guarantees and expands access to high-quality healthcare for veterans, should be signed into law immediately.

But this is not shocking from an administration who refers to veterans as “suckers.”
